The Wealth Roadmap
How we calculate this: invested money grows 6% a year after inflation, which is roughly the market's long-run 10% minus inflation, so every year shown is in today's dollars. We assume you invest half of your yearly surplus, and that this money fills your Transition Fund before it goes into investments. Freedom Income counts 4% a year of everything you have invested, which is a planning convention and does not guarantee any return. The S-Corp estimate uses 15.3% self-employment tax on half of your take-home. The Money Milestones are Margin (active income above expenses), Optionality (six months of expenses in a Transition Fund), Net $100K (net financial assets outside the Transition Fund), Equity Rich ($1M of net worth outside your home), and Your Terms (Freedom Income above expenses). "Ahead of" percentages come from the Federal Reserve's 2025 Survey of Consumer Finances: we applied the same five milestones, in order, to every household in the survey.
